I`ve decided to start logging my progress in messages like this. I`ll probably throw out a "devlog" every month or two highlighting the main progress vectors. The benefits should be twofold: everyone who is remotely interested in the project can follow and it should keep me involved enough not to drop it all at some point :)
Results and Stats
So it`s been 2 weeks since the release of 0.3 and the amount of feedback I`ve received is, well, non-existent. It`s still a result since the map has been downloaded 67 times by now. I`m picturing as a strong mediocre result where nobody is amazed or disgusted enough to leave feedback. That or everybody who downloaded it has lost all power to leave comments (mwa-ha-ha!).
Current bugs
Due to the interesting state of feedback I`m unable to conclude whether there any previously unnoticed bugs hanging around. Heck, I don`t even know if the main bug I`ve seen even exists in other users` copies.
Nevertheless, the bug is this: there are cars stuck on the intersections on the main street (Rigas iela if anybody noticed :) ). Cars stuck are in direction of turning left. the only solution I`m currently trying is minimising the traffic flow turning left to a close-to-zero value.
New areas
There has been one already. BER (Bērzpils ElektroRūpnīca) is a large electronics factory that was the main enterprise that facilitated the cities growth over the last 35 years (or would have been had the city existed in the first place :) ). In my map assumption is made that this factory is still doing well and hasn`t lost more than 50% of it`s production power (rather optimistic though).
Of course a factory of such size would need a proper transport connection from both public transport and goods delivery. As OMSI does not really consider the later the focus falls on the first. It will feature a bus termius and (as you may have guessed it) a new playable bus route #14.
New routes
To be entirely honest #14 is not the only new route that is planned. I have a plan of adding four new routes (one of which is a nighttime route). This will include adding two new suburbs which will be highlighted in the next devlogs.
