Bērzpils. Devlog 1





A month later it is time to release more Bērzpils related information in a new log.  I will be going on holidays soon so the next log will be posted in 6-7 weeks time.


Future

It`s probably wise to start with the least explored subject of planning for the future. Version 0.4 will still be considered alpha, however I`m hoping this to be the last alpha release. Is there a difference in naming? Yes, though more of an aesthetic one. As I see it, to call a map in beta state is to signify that no more major changes will be made. I`ll be ready to make such a claim when two more things are added that are considered crucial for an experienced player: tickets and currency. There are placeholders for both of these things at this moment yet I do not think I will have time to finish the items if I am to release ver. 0.4 before the end of the year (as I`m currently hoping).

And now towards that which is currently in the works:

New areas

First of all, Raiņa prospekts was extended up to the city border, as per route #14 which will continue on it up to Sporta Pils stop. The route will turn towards the stop and continue alongside a small street with forest and small house scenery alongside.




New routes

Apart from #14 showcased last time, I would like to spill the light on 4N, a nighttime route. Now players that wish to drive it should know that it is now combined with 1N for better timetable realism :) The service will be called 1N_4N and will be switching between these two routes.

The route itself follows #4 (except the extension via Dome, similarly to 1N) up until Mūkuciems where it terminates.

It is probably time showcase the route plan for 0.4 as well. There will be 8 playable routes in total, two of which will be night time only. There`s a simple map that demonstrates how it is going to look approximately. It is pretty self-explanatory actually (minus the shady line marking).
