Bērzpils. Devlog 3

Release stats, statements regarding the map and some plans for the future.

Release of 0.4

So about a month ago version 0.4 was released within this blog with subsequent releases throughout a few forums (including the official Marcel`s forum). With that I`ve learned a valuable thing: releases just before a major holiday is a very bad idea due to the fact that everybody is to busy with the festive season. Heck, Marcel`s forum even closed down up until the new year. Regardless, the map downloaded 33 times which is ok, considering how mediocre the previous version was accepted (which has been downloaded 210 times to date, so I`m not really worried about numbers for this instance).

This time I had some feedback in regards to the release (yay!), so there was a fix brought out shortly after. It might just help, you know :)

Where does the future lie?

As far as I can make it out, the main disappointment of this map is lack of custom objects and proper crossing design. This map was intended to use as little of custom content as possible, but i`ve already failed in regards to that :) Still, I`ll try and keep it on the low, provided it looks aesthetically pleasing.

Furthermore, as stated before, 0.4 is the last alpha release. That means that 0.5 will be branded 'beta' and will be the one to contain a number of reviewed areas. I`ve already started remaking the Autoosta and am ready to provide a first look. Keep in mind that it is still work in progress:

New areas

There will be some, since I am planning to introduce new routes with the release. Currently there are works undergoing near the Universitāte (you might have guessed what is one of the playable routes going to be :) ). There is not much to show at the moment as the progress has been quite slow, but I`ll throw in this screenshot so you would have some idea about what`s going on.

Next devlog?

I`m anticipating that the 0.5 will take a lot more time and effort to reach, so expect a few more devlogs. I`ll try and keep them coming on a monthly basis.
